Baseball: Dragons rally to beat Union Co. in 11

JEFFERSON -- Jefferson got a pair of sacrifice flies in the bottom of the 11th inning to edge Union County 3-2 in Region 8-AA action Tuesday.

Andy Nicolaus and Trent Sorrells walked to lead off the 11th and then Nicolaus would score on a Micah Carpenter sacrifice fly with one out for the game-winner.

Union County led 1-0 after plating a run in the third and held the lead until the seventh. The Dragons would tie the game in the seventh when Sorrells reached on an error to start the inning and then scored on a two-out double by Drew Carson.

The Panthers retook the lead in the top of the tenth on an RBI double from Wes Aulet scoring Lance Rich, who singled to lead off the inning.

Jefferson would answer again with a run in the bottom of the tenth when Carson scored on a two-out, RBI double from Max Ford.

Jacob Page got the win for Jefferson pitching one inning in relief allowing no hits, walking one, and striking out one.
