FLOWERY BRANCH -- The Chestatee girls tennis team rallied for a thrilling 3-2 win over Johnson Tuesday in Region 8-AAAA action.
With the team score tied 2-2, Chestatee's No. 1 doubles team of Haley King and Grace Brown trailed Johnson's Anslie Bass and Zdena Janderova in the third set.
King and Brown, having already come back from a set down, won five of the last six games to secure the team victory for the Lady War Eagles with a hard-fought 2-6, 6-2, 6-4 win.
Chestatee won at Nos. 1 and 2 singles to set the stage for the wild finish as Lily Kiang defeated Johnson's Ashley Hogan 7-5, 6-1 and Chestatee's Fernanda Arcaraz beat Karina Rivera 6-1, 6-2. Johnson's Riley McNeil won the No. 3 singles match 6-2, 6-2 over Tyler Bennett and the Lady Knights' No. 2 doubles team of Marissa Rodriquez and Kaylyn Dumanowsky came from a set down to defeat Chestatee's Carolina Gijon and Lauren McNitt 3-6, 6-0, 6-1.
Chestatee improved to 2-1 in Region 8B-AAAA play with the win.
