Truett's Dorsey Named First Team All-Conference

By staff reports
CLEVELAND -- Truett-McConnell senior Anthony Dorsey continues to receive accolades for his performance this year on the hardwood.

The NAIA Division I's leading scorer was also recognized as a SSAC First Team All-Conference member last night at the SSAC post season conference banquet. The award goes to only the top players from the 14 colleges and universities across the Southeastern United States that are members of the conference.

Dorsey expressed some mixed emotions about the award.

"This was a great accomplishment for me. However, my hope was to accomplish more as team this year," he said. "Awards are great and I appreciate them but my hope going forward is for our team to continue to get better and be able to accomplish some great things as we begin the NCCAA Regional tournament next week."

Head Coach Wade Mawdesley was proud of his senior's accomplishment.

"Having a First Team All-Conference Player is a big honor for Anthony and for our team. It is an extremely difficult thing to accomplish," Mawdesley said. "I am proud of how hard he has worked especially in conference, where teams were really able to key on him and really make it tough."

The Bears will continue their season next week at the NCCAA South Regional, which begins on Thursday March 7. The Bears will play Point University in the opening round of play.

Times are yet to be released.
