CUMMING - The Cumming-Forsyth County Chamber of Commerce has announced plans for The Innovation Management workshop on March 21 from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. at the Forsyth Conference Center, located at 3410 Ronald Regan Blvd. in Cumming.
This event will serve as a kick-off for the Manufacturing Society of Forsyth County. The workshop will be presented by the Georgia Manufacturing Extension Partnership at the Georgia Institute of Technology. The event is designed to help manufacturing companies put a process around innovation practices. Participants will learn how to develop, funnel and test ideas that are low cost and low risk in order to grow their businesses.
"Innovation is important to the growth of any business, but it is critical for manufacturers facing a truly global competitive marketplace. Manufacturers do not have the luxury of simply waiting for the 'next great idea' to emerge. You must learn to be intentional about innovation. The Innovation Management Workshop will demonstrate concepts, tools and methodologies for transforming innovation from a random event into a reliable system for profitable growth. My hope is that attendees will leave the Innovation Management Workshop with a desire, commitment and strategy to change the culture of their business to one of never ending innovation engineering," said Bruce Hagenau, president of Metcam. Metcam is the title sponsor of the Manufacturing Society of Forsyth County.
During the workshop experts from Georgia Tech's Enterprise Innovation Institute will guide participants through five hands-on exercises covering: Innovation, Idea Creation, Idea Definition, Idea Discovery and Creation of Cyclical Innovation.
"This event is important because companies will be learning why it is so vital to have continuous innovation and improvement programs in place in their firms. They will be learning what innovation is and how to establish a system in their company to help them constantly think about improvement," commented Bill Nusbaum, MEP, Georgia Institute of Technology's Manufacturing Extension Partnership.
Additionally, representatives from Lanier Technical College will provide information about the Georgia Quick Start Program, customizable training resources and continuing education programs.
