Big weekend for GHS - and not just in basketball

GAINESVILLE - The Gainesville boys basketball team was not the school's only big winner this weekend.

Gainesville Schools Supt. Merriane Dyer says the school's JROTC team was runner up in the 2013 Area-12 Drill Championships in Jacksonville Saturday. The team finished second out of 16 schools, and qualified for the national finals, the Navy National Drill Championships, in Pensacola, Fla., April 12-13.

In addition, she reports that the GHS Literacy Team won the region championship.
