The Republican Party could be destroying itself, making itself irrelevant in today's world. The House is right to let the sequester (fiscal cliff) go if the Obama-led Democrats don't keep the promise Obama made in exchange for raising taxes to cut spending by at least that amount, preferably a bit more.

The result will be known at midnight Friday morning. Obama already is trying to pin the blame on the GOP for not kicking the can down the road again while he accelerates his spending on social welfare. He actually wants to increase taxes on millionaires again on top of the increase the GOP gave him last time. So long as the GOP House is compliant, it'll keep on happening. Recent history shows that.

The GOP should let us go over the cliff and force across the board spending cuts as the sequester calls for, not giving Obama the power to choose what cuts he wants. He's played that ruse too often to the trusted. One example, he claimed a reduced unemployment rate, but the fact was just as many, if not morel remained unemployed because they voluntarily had left the job market to go on welfare or live on savings.

Sure, it is likely to throw us into a recession if not a depression. But those who are able and really want to work will be out there constantly seeking jobs.

The GOP itself, however, must realize times and voter profiles are changing rapidly. Think a moment. If the two parties had just split the Hispanic vote Mitt Romney would be president today. Remember, few illegals fraudulently manage to vote.

The Hispanic community vote ought to be solidly in the GOP camp. Their family values are much stronger than the Obama liberals who openly endorse same sex marriage, accept unenployment benefits as long as possible before finally seeking work.

The Hispanics, liberal and conservative, have a strong work ethic. They actively look for work and ways to better themselves. They seek jobs and promotions. They innovate. They try to live the values that brought so many millions to America.

Instead the GOP, especially the children of the Tea Party, are more intensely focused on catching and deporting the illegal aliens, splitting families with children who are legal citizens while deporting parents.

Republicans who try to make principled deals with equally principled Democrats are demonized Two safe senate seats were or are being lost because of this. Olympia Snowe of Maine has is stepping down. Saxby Chambliss of Georgia will not seek re-election. The Tea Party is after scalps of illegals and those who seek responsible solutions, promising to target them. Senator Marco Rubio also is one of those like Snowe and Chambliss except that he's going to stay and fight for sensible solutions that are hundreds of millions of dollars less expensive.

The GOP is drifting into being irrelevant at the national level as the Hispanics multiply. I admit to being a conservative having never voted for a Democrat for President. l fear though that my party is going to drift into a permanent minority unless these racist extremes are no longer tolerated.
