BUFORD -- Buford used a 26-2 run in the first half to break open a close game en route to a 53-8 win over West Hall Wednesday night in the first round of the Region 7-AAA girls tournament.
With the win the Lady Wolves (21-4) advanced to the Class AAA state tournament. They will take on White County at 7 p.m. Friday night in the semifinals at North Hall.
Buford opened the game with a quick 7-0 run but West Hall would cut the lead to 7-4 early in the first quarter. Buford then turned up the defense.
The Lady Wolves forced eight turnovers in the second quarter and held West Hall to just one basket over the next 18 minutes while building a 39-6 lead midway through the third quarter.
West Hall, which finished the season at 9-17, was held to just two points in the second half.
Buford had nine different players score. Bree Horrocks and Camille Anderson had 10 points to lead the Lady Wolves. Koko Nelson added eight and McKenzie Darrah had seven for Buford.
Kaelyn Gattis had six points to lead West Hall.
