COAL MOUNTAIN -- North Forsyth used a 12-0 run in the first half to take control and then cruised to a 51-23 win over Sequoyah Monday night in girls basketball action.
The Lady Raiders (4-0) trailed just once at 2-0 and led just 7-6 before blowing the game open with their run.
Avery Scarbrough paced North Forsyth with 18 points and six rebounds. Caroline Browns added 14 points, including two 3-pointers, to go with seven rebounds for the Lady Raiders.
North Forsyth led just 7-4 after the first quarter but used a 12-5 second quarter for a 19-9 halftime lead. The Lady Raiders would push their lead to 30-14 at the end of the third quarter and put the game out of reach outscoring Sequoyah 21-8 in the fourth quarter.
The North Forsyth defense was tough holding Sequoyah to eight points or less in every quarter.
