ATLANTA -- Two former college football players have filed a federal lawsuit in Atlanta saying the NCAA didn't inform players about the risks of head injuries and should provide medical monitoring for former players.
The lawsuit was filed Monday by former Georgia Tech defensive back Jerry Caldwell and former University of Georgia player Johnny Brown.
The suit says both received repeated hits to the head and suffered multiple concussions. It says both suffered severe headaches after graduation and face an increased risk of latent brain injuries.
The suit seeks medical monitoring and testing for former players and treatment if a neurodegenerative disorder or disease is diagnosed. The suit seeks class-action status, but is limited to players who did not play in the NFL.
Similar suits have been filed around the country.
