The core belief of Socialism says government knows what is better for you than you do. Liberals believe government should provide welfare for those in need, but even Liberals usually do not use government power to force everybody to do what they want. Right now millions of Americans are being told they cannot keep their present healthcare insurance. They must buy a policy mandated for them by Obamacare because, they say, it is better for you than what you think you want. President Obama and his minions say the insurance companies are "bad apples" and their policies are "junk." Think about it: government has looked at the decision you made about what healthcare insurance is best for you, and says you have made a "junk" decision. Then using the power of government they order you to buy the insurance they say is best for you, and you will have to pay for it or go to jail. That is miles beyond being a Liberal; that is European style Socialism, pure and simple. I am a Conservative and a Republican, and I accept that some of my friends are Liberal Democrats. Hear the term Liberal. But I cannot for the life of me understand why any person from either side can support a political party whose goal is to transform our American free-market democracy into pure Socialism which forces you and me to do what some bureaucrat in Washington thinks is best for us.
