Donald, Mercer outrun Davidson for 51-26 victory

By The Associated Press
DAVIDSON, N.C. -- JeTarii Donald had 261 yards from scrimmage and three total touchdowns while Mercer rushed for 397 yards to beat Davidson 51-26 on Saturday.

Donald shined again in relief of Payton Usher, who is still recovering from a concussion suffered last week against Campbell. Donald's 4-yard touchdown run with 14:07 to go in the game broke the game open, giving Mercer a 37-20 lead. Donald finished with 202 yards and two touchdowns on 24 carries and three catches for 59 yards and another score.

The Bears (8-1, 4-1 Pioneer Football League) remain in the hunt for the regular season championship.

Davidson (0-9, 0-6) managed 171 yards rushing - 100 more than its season average - against a Bears defense which entered the contest with second-best run defense in the FCS.

Robert Klein had 110 yards on 14 carries and William Morris added seven catches for 141 yards for the Wildcats.
