GAINESVILLE - The Gainesville Police Department will be hosting an interactive firearms safety course on November 7 and November 9.
Students will attend a classroom portion of the course the first day from 6:00-8:00 and then a "live fire" on the range on November 9 from 9:00-12:00.
The course is free and open to the public.
This is a "hands on" safety course that will teach participants about safe handgun operations. Students will learn rules for safe weapon handling, cycle of operation, ammunition selection, shooting fundamentals, and shooting positions. Also, there will be discussion on current Georgia Gun Carry Laws.
To participate, you must consent to a background check, have a valid government ID, and sign a release and indemnity waiver.
