BLUE RIDGE -- Buford held Fannin County to minus-7 yards rushing and just 86 total yards for the game en route to a 45-8 win over the Rebels Friday night in Region 7-AAA.
The No. 1-ranked Wolves (8-0, 5-0 Region 7-AAA) pounded out 371 total yards of offense. Xavier Gantt led the way with 117 yards rushing and two touchdowns on just eight carries. Martin Mangram had 72 yards rushing and two TDs on just four carries for Buford.
Buford led 14-0 after the first quarter on a 37-yard pass from Blake Mitchell to Isaac Nauta and a 63-yard TD run from Gantt. The wolves pushed their lead to 35-0 by halftime on a 23-yard TD run by Mangram, a 41-yard TD run from Gantt, and a 13-yard TD pass from Montgomery VanGorder to Tra Neal.
Mangram would add a 34-yard TD run in the third quarter and Matt Bonadies booted a 34-yard field goal in the fourth quarter.
Fannin County (2-6, 1-4) got its only score late in the fourth quarter on a 68-yard TD pass and a two-point conversion.
Buford will play host to East Hall next week in its final home game of the regular season.
