Retired Cornelia banker, former school board member dies

CORNELIA - A retired Cornelia banker and former Habersham County school board member - George Dean Telford - will be buried Saturday.

Telford, a former vice president at Community Bank & Trust, died Wednesday at the age of 92.

He was the oldest living member of the CB&T Board of Directors and also served on the Board of Directors for Community Bank Shares and Financial Supermarket. Telford was a 50-year member of the Georgia Banking Association and was also a longtime member of the Cornelia Kiwanis Club and past Financial Director of Cornelia United Methodist Church.

The funeral will be at 2:00 Saturday at Cornelia United Methodist Church. Interment will follow in Yonah Memorial Gardens.
