GAINESVILLE - The Greater Hall Chamber of Commerce's (GHCC) annual HealthSmart Expo is Wednesday and will begin with a kickoff breakfast at 7:30 at the Gainesville Civic Center.
Recipients of the Most Fit Company Awards will be honored and leaders of the "Think About It" Campaign will speak about the prescription drug abuse epidemic at the kickoff.
A program of the Medical Association of Georgia (MAG) Foundation, this statewide initiative focuses on implementing a state-wide drug monitoring system, encouraging safe drug disposal, and educating the public and professionals about the dangers of and prevention of prescription drug abuse. The Think About It Campaign is spearheaded by P. Tennent Slack, MD, Northeast Georgia Physicians Group Interventional Pain Medicine; Jack Chapman, MD, Gainesville Eye Associates and Past President of MAG; and Dallas Gay, a MAG Foundation volunteer.

The HealthSmart Wellness Expo will also be at the civic center, from 7:30-1:30.
It will be free and open to the public and will feature free health screenings by The Longstreet Clinic, Good News Clinics and Lanier Tech. Over 60 exhibitors will be participating. A free salad lunch will be available for the first 100 health screening participants between 11:30-1:30. Health screenings will include Glucose * Cholesterol * Blood Pressure * BMI * Carotid Artery * Asthma Screening * Hearing Screening and many more. Flu shots will be available at a minimal cost.
