Malnourished Paulding Co. teen found wandering in LA

DALLAS, Ga. - Police are guarding the Georgia home of a couple accused of child cruelty after a malnourished teenage boy was found wandering a Los Angles bus station.

Authorities said the teen, identified as Mitchell Comer, weighed 87 pounds and was so thin that authorities say his skin was translucent.

Paulding County jail records show that Paul and Sheila Comer face charges of false imprisonment and cruelty to children.

Police in Los Angles said Thursday that the teen told police his stepfather gave him $200 and a list of homeless shelters before he was put on a bus to Los Angeles on this 18th birthday.

The teen told authorities his parents had kept him locked in a room for approximately four years.

The Comers have two daughters who are now in state custody. They told police they knew they had a brother, but they never saw him.

Authorities said they also placed the boy in state custody, saying that even though he is 18-years-old, he is considered a child in light of the circumstances in which he had been living.

Authorities are expected to search the Comer home Friday for evidence in the case.
