Walton Co. middle schooler collapses at football practice

MONROE - A Georgia middle-school student is seriously ill at an Atlanta hospital after he collapsed during football practice in Walton County.

Jon Ross Snell was in critical condition Tuesday at Children's Healthcare of Atlanta at Egleston.

The student was taken to the hospital by helicopter Monday afternoon when he lost consciousness during football practice. He plays on the 7th grade team for George Walton Academy.

Firefighters for the Monroe Fire Department say the boy told a coach he didn't feel well before he collapsed. The cause of his illness wasn't immediately known.
