Braselton, Hoschton Announce 2012 Plein Air Event

BRASELTON - The Braselton Visitors Bureau Authority and the Hoschton Heritage Arts Council have joined together to offer the first annual Braselton-Hoschton Plein Air Event.

This outdoor art competition asks participants to capture the unique features of Braselton and/or Hoschton. For the first time they are coming together to offer an artist the opportunity to receive recognition and become the premier winner of the Braselton-Hoschton Plein Air competition.

All participants must be 16 years of age or older on the day registration begins. Anyone under the age of 18 must have permission from parents or guardians and an application and waiver release form signed accordingly.

Participants must complete and submit the application with the required $25 for first entry by October 1. Additional paintings may be entered for a fee of $10 each and may be paid when entries are collected, no later than noon October 26. Application forms may be downloaded from www.HoschtonHeritageArtsCouncil.com or www.BraseltonFestivals.com. Make checks payable to HHAC and mail with completed application to: HHAC PO Box 577, 74 White Street, Hoschton, Georgia 30548.

Applicants must bring his/her canvas to the Hoschton Heritage Arts Center to be stamped on the back during one of the specific times listed: October 19 4:00-7:00 or October 20 10:00-1:00.

On Saturday night Oct. 20, at 7:00 PMall Plein Air participating artists are invited to the Hoschton Heritage Arts Center for a complimentary dinner, drinks, fun & camaraderie and a concert on the veranda.

All Plein Air paintings must be completed between the time the canvas is stamped and 12 noon on October 26.

All entries will be displayed in a booth at the Braselton Antique& Holiday Festival on October 27 & 28, at the Braselton Park. The art will be available for sale at a price determined by the artist when the entry(s) is submitted. The artist will receive seventy (70%) percent and HHAC will receive thirty (30%) percent of the sale price. The winning entries will be displayed with ribbons. The Grand Prize winner will receive $200 and a one night stay at Chateau Élan in Braselton. Second place will receive $100 and a bottle of Chateau Élan wine. Third place will receive $50 and a bottle of Chateau Élan wine.
