LITTLE ROCK, Ark. -- Former Dartmouth standout Peter Williamson and world No. 1 amateur Bobby Wyatt shot matching 2-under 70s Friday to take the 54-hole lead at 7 under each at the 106th Southern Amateur.
Wyatt, a former Alabama All-American, overcame bogeys on two of his first three holes Friday with a pair of chip ins and a 60-foot eagle putt on No. 15. He bogeyed the final hole at Chenal Country Club to fall into a tie with Williamson, who won the individual Ivy League title three times.
Brad Schneider of Valrico, Fla., and Daniel Berger or Jupiter, Fla., are each one shot back of the leaders entering Saturday's final round.
Second-round leader Keith Mitchell, a Georgia All-American, was 7 over in his first five holes Friday and struggled to an 8-over 80.
