GAINESVILLE - The North Georgia Community Foundation is soliciting nominations for its annual Philanthropist of the Year award.
The award recognizes "outstanding achievement by an individual or family, in recognition of life-time accomplishments that have made a significant impact" in the region served by the foundation: Banks, Dawson, Fannin, Forsyth, Franklin,
Habersham, Hall, Hart, Jackson, Lumpkin, Rabun, Stephens, Towns, Union and White counties.
On Thursday, Nov. 8, the foundation will honor that tradition of humanitarianism and good will by naming this year's "Philanthropist of the Year." The person or persons receiving the honor will be selected from nominations received from the Foundation's 15-county service area. Nominees for the award should be individuals with a proven record of exceptional generosity who demonstrate outstanding civic and charitable responsibility, and whose generosity encourages others to take philanthropic leadership roles.
The award will be presented during the North Georgia Community Foundation's Annual Philanthropy Day luncheon that will be held at the First Baptist Church of Gainesville Banquet Hall.
