GAINESVILLE - The city of Gainesville with observe Water Week July 16-20 with a number of workshops and demonstrations on such things as rain barrels and irrigation systems.
The theme of the week's activities is Save Water, Save Money, Have Fun!, and the week will not be all work and no play. Wednesday has been set aside For a Water Fest at Longwood Park.
The week's schedule of events - all of them free - is as follows:
Monday: All About Irrigation Systems
6-7pm Wilshire Trails Pavilion 849 Wilshire Road
Joshua Jackson, Professor at North Georgia Technical College, teaches how to efficiently use and properly maintain an irrigation system.Joshua has over 15 years experience in the turf industry - ranging from golf courses to landscape design and installation.
Tuesday: Rain Barrel Workshop Barrels $25
6-7 pm Flat Creek Reclamation Facility 2641 Old Flowery Branch Road

Wednesday: Water Fest
9am-12pm Longwood Park 20 Pearl Nix Parkway
Come spend the morning in the park. Enjoy free fun activities for all ages including games, critters, crafts, water tests and even free popcorn.
Thursday: Business Savings
10-11am Gainesville First United Methodist Church
2780 Thompson Bridge Road
Know the tricks to water savings and lowering operating costs. Come learn how one local church reduced their water bill over 40%.
Friday: Free Showerhead and Aerators

Partnering with the city in the Water Week activities are: Hall County Cooperative Extension Service, Keep Hall Beautiful, the Lake Lanier Association, the Upper Chattahoochee Riverkeeper, and the Historic Downtown Market on the Square.
