Worker killed at Cumming antiques market

By The Associated Press
CUMMING - Authorities say a 38-year-old worker at an antiques market in Forsyth County was killed after he was crushed by a piece of heavy machinery.

Forsyth County Deputy Coroner Nickie Stockel says Jose Rodriguez-Duarte was killed Friday when a metal pill presser fell onto him.

Barbara Spivia, who owns the Lakewood 400 Antiques Market in Cumming with her husband, says no one saw the machinery fall onto Rodriguez-Duarte, but dealers at the market helped lift the equipment off the man.

A bystander reportedly administered CPR on the man, who was conscious when emergency responders arrived and took him to North Fulton Hospital. He died around 8 p.m. Friday.

Rodriguez-Duarte, who had been in the U.S. for 15 years, had worked for Spivia and her husband, Ed, for nine years.
