Good News at Noon pastor resigns

GAINESVILLE - The Pastor and Director of Ministries for Gainesville's Good News at Noon has resigned, citing increased family responsibilities as his reason for stepping away from the leadership position.

Rev. Ed Grant, in a letter of resignation to the Good News Board of Directors, said that his heart was "both heavy and at peace" with his decision.

Grant said he still plans to be involved in the ministry of Good News at Noon.

"I have a passion for the philosophy on which Mr. B (Gene Beckstein) founded this wonderful ministry...and have no desire to completely disengage completely from the ministry," Grant wrote.

Grant began volunteering with Good News at Noon in 1998. He became the Director of Ministries ten years later.

Grant's resignation is effective June 30.
