GAINESVILLE - Counte Cooley, President/Owner of Electronic Sales Company (ESC), Inc. in Gainesville, recently joined Riverside Military Academy's (RMA) Board of Trustees.
Cooley also serves as president and major stockholder of Georgia Powder Coating and as a member of the Finance Committee of the Chattahoochee Country Club. He is also past president of the Gainesville Kiwanis Club.
Cooley began his work with ESC in 1958 as he held a flashlight and passed tools to his dad. When he was only eight years old he built his first HAM radio transmitter, and he earned his HAM radio operator's license by the age of nine. He later studied electronics engineering at Southern Technical Institute. From 1967-72, he served in the Georgia National Guard Infantry with training in advanced infantry before returning home to lead his dad's company in 1972.
He served two years as president and four years as director of the Georgia Burglar and Fire Alarm Association. He was vice president of the National Burglar and Fire Alarm Association for two years and a member of their Strategic Planning Committee for three years. He was also recently involved in chartering the new Georgia Electronic Life Safety and Systems Association (GELSSA), and he is currently serving on its Board of Directors.
In 2011, Cooley was named to the Georgia State Construction Industry Licensing Board: Division of Low Voltage Contracts by Governor Nathan Deal. This Division serves to safeguard the public against faulty, inadequate, insufficient or unsafe electrical, plumbing, conditioned air or low voltage contracting, installation or repair.
Cooley, along with wife Jackie and friend Scott Piotrowski, co-founded the For Her Glory foundation in 2004. The non-profit foundation continues to provide wigs and prostheses for cancer patients lacking the means to obtain them.
