GAINESVILLE, Fla. -- Jake Davies and Brandon Thomas each hit a three-run homer as Georgia Tech beat the College of Charleston 8-4 on Friday in the NCAA tournament.

The first two innings included 10 runs, 12 hits and two errors, and the Yellow Jackets (37-24) emerged with a 7-3 lead. They will move on to play either Florida, the No. 1 overall seed, or Bethune-Cookman on Saturday.

Charleston (37-21) started with five hits in the first inning to take a 1-0 lead, but the Yellow Jackets answered with Davies' homer in the bottom half of the inning.

The Cougars tied it 3-3 in the top of the second on a two-run home run by Marty Gantt. Georgia Tech answered with four runs, including Thomas' homer.

Georgia Tech reliever Dusty Isaacs (6-4) held the Cougars scoreless over the final 5 1/3 innings for the win. Charleston will play Saturday in an elimination game against the loser of the Florida-Bethune-Cookman game.
