ATLANTA - The Georgia Association of Realtors (GAR) has presented two checks in support of the T-SPLOST referendum, which will be voted on July 31 statewide.
The first check, in the amount of $150,000, was presented to representatives of the Georgia Transportation Alliance, and the second check, in the amount of $185,000, was presented to representatives from Citizens for
Transportation Mobility (CTM).
GAR announced its endorsement of the referendum on April 9.
"We feel strongly that the passage of this referendum is vital to the
future of Georgia's economy," said Bill Boatman, 2012 GAR President.
"Without these essential additions and upgrades to our infrastructure,
we stand to fall far behind other states in attracting new businesses
and adding jobs. This will negatively affect our economic growth
opportunities for years to come."
These contributions represent only a portion of the support from the
National Association of Realtors and GAR. Factoring in the in-kind
support provided -- polling, research, data, etc. -- the total
investment of the Realtor organization for the T-SPLOST campaign is
in excess of $600,000.
