GULF SHORES, Ala. -- The Brenau University softball team charged past Bethany College 7-1 on Thursday in their first contest at the National Association of Intercollegiate Athletics championship tournament in Gulf Shores, Ala.
The Golden Tigers notched seven hits in the victory, including home runs from Sally Duggan and Ellen Black, while holding Bethany to just four hits.
Jenny Shepard got the win in the pitching circle for Brenau, striking five batters.
Meanwhile, Duggan went 2-for-4 with an RBI on the home run, Black's shot also plated three runs. Jenny Shepard also finished 2-for-3 with and RBI, while Tiffany Schandera had a hit and an RBI. Taylor Kelly also had a hit for the Golden Tigers.
Brenau will continue play at the tournament in Gulf Shores.
