Gainesville council ready to approve east side development

By Staff
GAINESVILLE - A planned retail development on Gainesville's east side is one step closer to reality after a quick review by Gainesville City Council members at the council's regular meeting Tuesday night.

Planning Director Rusty Ligon formally told council members that the rezoning application by Pacolet Milliken Enterprises, Inc. for 68+ acres of property at I-985 and Limestone Parkway received approval at a May 8 Planning and Appeals Board meeting.

The planned development is to include a large anchor store, reported but not confirmed as Kroger, as well as other retail stores and multi-family dwellings.

Council is to make a final vote on the rezoning at its June 12 meeting.

In addition, Gainesville council members will vote on small rezoning projects on Marler Street and Hancock Avenue and on Thompson Bridge Road at Sandridge Court.
