Gainesville company earns honors from Webby Awards

GAINESVILLE - Red Clay Interactive and United Community Bank have been named an Official Honoree of the 16th Annual Webby Awards in the Banking/Bill Paying category for its redesign of United Community Bank's (UCB) website.

Craig Metz, UCB's Executive Vice President of Corporate Marketing said, "We're extremely honored to be named an official Webby honoree and it was a true team effort by both United and Red Clay teams."

Hailed as the "Internet's highest honor" by the New York Times, the Webby Awards, presented by the International Academy of Digital Arts and Sciences (IADAS) is the leading international award honoring excellence on the Internet. The IADAS, which honors, nominates and selects The Webby Award Winners, is comprised of web industry experts, including media mogul Arianna Huffington, Skype CEO Tony Bates, Instagram co-founder Kevin Systrom, mobile-phone inventor Martin Cooper, and Mikael Hed, CEO of Rovio, creators of the Webby Award-winning game app Angry Birds.

Because of the "exceptional" quality of submissions received this year, the Academy chose to recognize work exhibiting "remarkable achievement" that was not selected as a Nominee. Out of nearly 10,000 entries submitted to the Webby Awards, the Official Honoree distinction was award the very best as an official honoree.

"This is a great honor for United Community Bank and Red Clay Interactive," Red Clay Interactive CEO Lance Compton said. "There were four financial institutions named Official Honorees, and United Community Bank was the only one honored from the United States."

Red Clay team members who worked on the redesign included Nick Kastner, interactive marketing director; Aaron Stump, creative director; Laura Fowler, interactive marketing executive; Charles Martin, technical developer; and Zach Abernathy, development director. United Community Bank team members who worked closely with content and design elements are Rhonda Hood, Greg Abernathy, Jeanette Garrett, Chris Uhrich and Keith Bryant.
