Injured Hall Co. Marine surprises mom for Mother's Day

FLOWERY BRANCH - Three months ago, Hall County Marine Sean Adams was severely injured when he stepped on an IED in Afghanistan. Sunday he showed up at church to surprise his mom on Mother's Day.

Adams told Fox 5 News he kept his arrival very quiet and did not notify local media that he would be attending the Sunday morning service at his church.

His mother, Tina Adams, told the television station she had been feeling depressed that morning, thinking that she wouldn't be seeing any of her children on Mother's Day.

"The man standing next to me tapped me on my shoulder and I turned and there he was," said Tina Adams. "It was a close second, I think, to the day he was born."

The 19-year-old Lance Corporal was wounded in late February while he was on patrol in Afghanistan. He lost both legs in the explosion and injured an arm as well as suffering other wounds. He has been receiving treatment and therapy at Walter Reed Army Hospital.

Despite his injuries, Sean Adams said he is still proud to be a U.S. Marine.

"It's an honor to serve my country as a Marine and you know, to be part of that brotherhood, even when I die, I'll still be a part of that brotherhood. I'll never be forgotten," Sean Adams told the television station.
