DAWSONVILLE - The Georgia Department of Revenue has seized the Dawsonville Pool Room due to unpaid taxes and fees.
According to state officials, the downtown Dawsonville eatery owes more than $84,000 in unpaid taxes, fees and penalties stemming from as long ago as April 2008.
According to the Dawsonville Pool Room's Facebook page, an account has been set up at First Citizens Bank of Georgia in an effort to reopen the historic downtown restaurant.
The Pool Room is described as "ground zero" for auto racing and is covered with racing memorabilia from Dawson County native Bill Elliott's NASCAR career.
