ELBERTON -- Jefferson will be the No. 3 seed from Region 8-AA in the Class AA state baseball playoffs after taking a 2-0, rain-shortened win over Elbert County Friday in the consolation round of the regionn tournament.
The Dragons (14-11) will open the playoffs next week on the road at Coosa.
Micah Carpenter earned the win for the Dragons allowing just two hits while striking out seven. The game was called in the bottom of the sixth with Elbert County at the plate. The Blue Devis had the tying runs on base with two out when the rains came.
Jefferson had five hits in the game. Max Ford, Andrew Bartek, Tyler Cole, Trent Sorrells, and Jake Franklin each had one hit. Bartek scored both runs, one in the second on a RBI single from Sorrells and the other in the third on a Elbert County error.
Tyler McKeller and Hunter Blackmon had the two hits for Rlbert County.
