Cumming convenience store damaged in pre-dawn fire

CUMMING - A Shell service station and convenience store will remain closed for awhile after a pre-dawn fire Monday.

Forsyth County Fire Captain Jason Shivers said investigators do not know the origin of the fire at 601 Dahlonega Street yet, but it does not appear to be suspicious.

Shivers said his crews got the call around 4:00 a.m. and they had everything under control within a couple of hours.

He said about 20-percent of the business sustained damage, and the fire never got close to the fuel pumps.

The store was closed at the time of the fire.
