BUFORD - As expected, a Buford shoe company has announced it will expand its workforce. Flip-flop maker Okabashi is adding 150 employees to its current 200, to begin making sandals for other companies.
"We're hoping to get to a point where we have to turn people away," Jason Boswell of Okabashi told Fox 5.
According to Boswell, the company is winning contracts over its Asian competitors.
"At first they don't believe we can manufacture it here, and then they look at the details and they come visit us then they get excited," Braswell told the Atlanta television station.
Company officials say they hope to begin making shoes for outside companies by June. They made the official announcement Friday.
