WATKINSVILLE -- The Riverside Military Academy track team had a strong showing at the Region 8-A meet Thursday.
The Eagles set several personal bests in the field events.
Skylar Toney posted a leap of 12-feet, 6-inches in the pole vault to finish second. Marlan Edwards finished fourth in the shot put with a pesonal best throw of 42-07. JaRontae McGordon set a personal best leap of 18-06 in the long jump, more than a foot beyond his previous best. Chandler LeCave set a personal best in the 1600-meter run with a time of 4:46.04.
The Eagles' 400 meter relay team of Trevor Jones, Edwards, McGordon and Gage Bolden advanced to finals on Saturday along with 1600 meter relay team of Toney, Bolden, LeCave and Tochie Uzoije.
Bolden also made the finals in the 100 meter, Tucker Pearson in the 110 and 300 hurdles, Taylor Calderon in the 800, and Toney in the 400. Calderon and LeCave will also compete in the 3200 finals.
