3 collection sites planned in Hall for drug take back day

GAINESVILLE - The Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA) has scheduled another National Prescription Drug Take-Back Day which will take place on Saturday, April 28, 2012, from 10:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. with three collection points planned in Hall County.

People who missed previous events, or who have subsequently accumulated unwanted, unused prescription drugs, will be able to safely dispose of those medications at no charge and while remaining completely anonymous.

The local participating law enforcement agencies and collection sites are:
· Gainesville Police Department, in partnership with Safe Kids Gainesville / Hall County, located at 701 Queen City Parkway in Gainesville;
· The Hall County Sheriff's Office at the State Patrol post - 2000 Cleveland Hwy # B in Gainesville;
· The Oakwood Police Department at the Oakwood City Hall located at 4035 Walnut Circle in Oakwood.

(Please click on the link below for a list of all collection points in the area and elsewhere in the state and country. There are at lease a dozen with a 25-mile radius of Gainesville.)

Illegal substances such as marijuana, methamphetamine will not be accepted. Intravenous solutions and hypodermic needles are also not accepted. Acceptable items are: expired, unused, and unwanted prescription drugs and over-the-counter solid medications. All medications will be disposed of safely and properly by law enforcement officers.
