Former WDUN engineer dies

LEESBURG, Fla. - A man who served for a number of years as chief engineer at WDUN has died.

George Robert (Bobby) Wilkes was born in Jefferson but spent most of his life in Gainesville before moving to Leesburg in 1972 to manage Leesburg Cablevision.

As president of the Wilkes Foundation, he traveled extensively doing mission work in the U.S. as well as Africa, Brazil, Romania, and Haiti.

The funeral will be Saturday at the First Baptist Church of Leesburg at 11:00.
