GAINESVILLE - Jim Moore, Vice President and Agency Manager at BB&T Sidney O. Smith Insurance, has been named Chairman of The Medical Center Foundation Board of Trustees, filling the role previously held by the late W. Woodrow (Woody) Stewart.
"We could not be more pleased to have a leader of Jim Moore's caliber to step into the role of chairman," said Nancy Colston, executive director of The Medical Center Foundation. "We are confident he will build on the success of the past and lead us to even greater heights in the future."
According to Colston, Moore has chaired the Foundation's signature gifts committee since January of 2011, and prior to that had been an exemplary member of the Foundation's Laurel Society committee, which works to raise individual donor gifts of $10,000 or more.
Moore will lead the Foundation through the remainder of its current Healthy Journey Campaign and will also serve as a trustee on the Northeast Georgia Health System Board. Healthy Journey is a series of capital campaigns conducted by the Foundation to raise needed resources for hospital and community-based health initiatives. Since 1999, the Foundation has raised over $35 million to enhance services and improve health care for the residents of Northeast Georgia.
Moore and his wife Evanda are Gainesville natives. He has served in numerous community leadership roles including past chairman of the Hall County Chapter of the American Red Cross, past president of the Kiwanis Club of Gainesville, and a member of the Gainesville First United Methodist Church where he chaired the Administrative Council and Finance Committee. He currently serves on the Board of Trustees of Brenau University. In 2007, he was honored as Rotary Man of the Year.
