JEFFERSON -- Micah Carpenter scattered seven hits and allowed just one earned run in leading Jefferson to a 10-3 win over Jackson County Wednesday night in Region 8-AA action.
The Dragons (6-5, 2-2 in region) fell behind 1-0 in the first inning after a lead-off home run from the Panthers' Austin Robinson. But the Jefferson offense got going in the second with a run to tie the game and then two more in the third to take the lead.
The Dragons blew the game open with five runs in the fourth, capped by a grand slam from Andrew Bartek for an 8-1 lead. Jackson County cut it to 8-2 with a run in the fifth but Jefferson extended the lead to 10-2 with two runs in the sixth.
Bartek, Tyler Cole, Max Ford, and Andy Nicholas each had two hits for the Dragons. Austin Thompson, Carpenter, and Satchel Turpin had one hit apiece for the Dragons.
For Jackson County, Quinn Grogan, Jesse Tallent, Trey Sorrells, Kolin Zimmer, Chase Dunlap, and Nick Corso all had one hit.
