Membership data stolen from Ga. nonprofit group

By The Associated Press
SUWANEE - Police are continuing their search for suspects after someone broke into the offices of a group that has been fighting anti-abortion bills in the Georgia Legislature.

Officials with the Georgia Obstetrical and Gynecological Society said two laptop computers with private information about its members were stolen during a recent burglary.

Society President Dr. David Byck said that it's frightening that personal and family information of its membership was stolen. A motive for the crime wasn't known, but Byck said "there cannot be a good intent behind such a crime."

Executive Director Pat Cota told Channel 2 News the break-in happened shortly after noon on Saturday. She said the stolen laptops contain professional and family information for some 1,000 OB/GYN physicians. The society is a professional organization for OB/GYN doctors statewide.
