Detective says Buford murder suspect confessed in letter

By Staff
BUFORD - The man accused of killing his sister at a Buford apartment complex earlier this month apparently confessed the crime in a letter written to his son.

According to a report in the Atlanta Journal Constitution, a Gwinnett County detective testified in court Friday that Dennis Roger Puckett wrote a two-page letter to his son with the words "I killed your Aunt Vickie Friday and have been on the run ever since."

The detective said Puckett also confessed the crime to his ex-wife. Both called police and Vickie Bowles' body was found in the Powers Avenue apartment on March 7.

Puckett's case has been bound over now to Superior Court. He faces charges of felony murder and aggravated assault in the death of his sister.
