CLEVELAND - The White County Chamber of Commerce has a new president. The chamber board met Wednesday in Cleveland and named Melissa Leitzsey to the position.

Leitzsey has worked since 2009 as Director of Communications and Marketing with the Newberry, South Carolina Chamber of Commerce. She graduated Summa Cum Laude with a Bachelor of Arts in Communications and earned Outstanding Senior and Outstanding Student in Communications awards from the University of South Carolina.

Board Chairman Holly Hunt said she is thrilled not only that the search process is over, but also that they have a excellent person for the job. Dr. Josh Kinsey, Board Chairman-elect said "Right now, we feel that Melissa is our best fit and we are thrilled to have her accept our offer. We are looking forward to seeing her meet the community and enjoy a long and prosperous relationship with our Chamber."

The chamber has been searching for a new president since Judy Walker announced her retirement in November.

Leitzsey will attend her first Board of Directors meeting on Wednesday, April 11th. She begins her duties April 16th.

Hunt said Interim President Russ Spangler will continue with the chamber for a few days during the transition process.
