HARTWELL -- Jefferson opened its Region 8-AA schedule with a 5-0 loss to Hart County Wednesday.
Hart County's Wade Martin tossed a complete-game one-hit shutout over the Dragons fanning four while walking four.
Micah Carpenter got Jefferson's only hit. Max Ford took the loss for the Dragons (4-4, 0-1 in region) allowing three earned runs on eight hits.
Chris Wilson had two hits and three RBI to lead the Bulldog's offense. Chris Ayers had three hits, scored twice, and drove in one run for Hart County.
The two teams will meet again on Friday in Jefferson.
