Victims of Purina Dr. wreck, explosion identified

GAINESVILLE - Gainesville Police have tentatively identified the two people who were killed in a fiery crash earlier this week on Purina Drive.

Lt. Carol Martin said 35-year-old Shadron Border and 32-year-old Monique Malone, both of Gainesville, were killed when the Lexus they were in hit a tractor trailer carrying dog food around 1 a.m. Tuesday, causing the diesel tank to explode.

Authorities warned earlier in the week that the badly burned bodies would take some time to identify.

"We started with the car, going there from the owner to who the car was last loaned to and doing interviews with the people who loaned the car out in conjunction with the family," said Martin.

The driver of the tractor trailer, 36-year-old James Allport of Ohio, was able to get out of his vehicle safely.
