Forsyth Co. widow settles lawsuit against suicide group

By The Associated Press
ATLANTA - An attorney says the widow of a 58-year-old Forsyth County man has reached a settlement in a wrongful death lawsuit filed against members of a suicide group once charged with helping him die.

Defense attorney Robin Loeb says John Celmer's widow reached a settlement with the four members of Final Exit Network. She said the settlement was still pending and declined further comment.

Authorities charged the members of the Final Exit Network in 2009 with violating the state's assisted suicide law after a lengthy investigation into Celmer's death. The criminal charges were dismissed this month when the Georgia Supreme Court struck down the law.

Susan Celmer said in the Fulton County Superior Court lawsuit her husband was on track for a ``complete recovery'' from cancer when the group's members helped him kill himself.
