GAINESVILLE -- The Chestatee boys tennis team opened its Region 8A-AAA season with a 3-2 win over rival North Hall Tuesday.
The War Eagles got wins from Jonathan Cook at No. 1 singles with a 6-1, 6-3 victory over Nathan Jones. Chestatee also swept the doubles matches with the No. 1 team of Blaine Brown and Reed Johnson beat Reed Patrick and Brian Rabb 6-1, 7-5 and the No. 2 team of Casey Campbell and Dillan Stapler beat Grant Jackson and Corey Reece, 6-0, 6-0.
North Hall got wins from Matt Booth at No. 2 with a win over Juan Carrion, 6-4, 6-0 and at No. 3 singles when Lucas Martin beat Jeremiah Reed, 6-2, 6-4.
The War Eagles continue 8A-AAA play at home Thursday against Franklin County.
