ATLANTA - The Georgia Bureau of Investigation says a preliminary identification of a body found in an Oglethorpe County well is that of a 25-year-old Monroe man who has been missing since last month.
The agency said in a statement Monday evening that Charles Steven Parker was reported missing on Jan. 16 and was last seen in Clarke County on Jan. 15.
The body has been taken to the agency's crime lab for an autopsy.
The Oglethorpe County Sheriff's Office contacted the GBI regarding a possible body found in the county's Sandy Cross community. Investigators found a man's partially decomposed body in a well at an abandoned house.
