CLEVELAND - A Pennsylvania hiker was rescued by White County firefighters Thursday night.
According to Fire Department spokeswoman Ana Newberry, the 56-year-old male became ill around 7:30 p.m. in the area of Low Gap Shelter on the Appalachian Trail.
Newberry said it took roughly two hours for crews to reach the man, who had been on the trail with fellow hikers for approximately 18 days.
She said he was eventually transported to Union General Hospital in Blarisville for treatment. No other details are immediately available.
