TOCCOA -- The Johnson girls nearly made up for a tough season with a major upset in the first round of the Region 8-AAA tournament on Tuesday night at the Stephens County gym.
But the Lady Knights were outscored 15-7 in the second overtime in a 52-44 loss to Stephens County in double overtime.
The game was tied 33-33 after regular and 37-37 at the end of the first overtime.
Lyndsey Pethel paced Johnson with 15 points and nine rebounds. Harlee Robson added 11 points and three steals for the Lady Knights, who finished the year 4-21.
Stephens County moves on to face Gainesville at 6 p.m. Thursday at North Hall High. The winner will advance to the Region 8-AAA semifinals and book a spot in the state tournament.
