By B.J. Williams
GAINESVILLE - Officials with the Beulah Rucker Museum will turn to the movie screen to share details of African-American history with the Gainesville area during the month of February, which is Black History Month.

"Movie Nights At The Museum" are scheduled for each Tuesday evening in February. Event organizer Rogene Bailey said attendees will see video documentaries on the Underground Railroad and the Tuskegee Airmen, as well as footage of local African American History on Palmour Street and Gainesville educator Beulah Rucker Oliver.

"Gainesville is rich with African American history," said Bailey. "We just want to talk about what happened in the state of Georgia, in Gainesville, around the country...we're just trying to get people aware."

Bailey said the first feature on Tuesday, February 7 will be Eyes On The Prize. Features will be shown each Tuesday in February at 7:00 p.m.

He said while the showings are free to the public, seating is limited to about 70 people and attendees will be seated on a first come-first served basis. Bailey said the public can reserve seats by e-mail at [email protected].

The Beulah Rucker Museum, housed in the former school building founded by Rucker, is located at 2101 Athens Highway.
